What is the Dlala Play Programme?

The Dlala Play Programme is a practical, play-based early learning programme that helps ECD teachers create meaningful learning experiences for young children every day. Developed by Inceba Trust in partnership with FNB ECD, the programme provides age-appropriate, easy-to-use lesson plans and resources for children from birth to five years. Built around the National Curriculum Framework, Dlala recognises that young children learn best through play, exploration and positive relationships. Each week’s activities support children’s cognitive, language, physical, social and emotional development while making learning engaging and enjoyable.

What is included?

The programme includes structured daily lesson plans, songs, stories, movement activities, creative play, posters and assessment tools that make planning easier for teachers while ensuring children receive a rich early learning experience. Through training and ongoing mentoring, Inceba Trust supports ECD centres to confidently implement the programme in their classrooms. Today, Dlala is used by hundreds of ECD teachers across South Africa, particularly in under-resourced communities, helping children build the strong foundations they need for life and school.
